Wanted: our future: a report into the implications of sustained high levels of unemployment among young people (15-24 years old)

The terms of reference of this study were to inquire and report on the implications of sustained high levels of unemployment among young people (15-24 years old) with regard to: acquiring work experience; the increasing reliance of young people on casual and part-time work; equity of labour force participation; issues of social dependency; social cohesion; incomes (e.g. youth training wages); and income support. The report sets out the labour market and national training contexts, and looks at employment and young people, unemployment and young people and income support for young people. It includes a statistical snapshot and case studies. There is a substantial list of recommendations, relating in particular to training, education and income support for young people.
