This brief guide to the use of humour in training looks at the ways humour can and should be used by trainers to help illustrate points, and make their impact memorable, effective and productive of insights. The author discusses when in the session humour should be used, the kind of humour that should be used, and how to gather examples of humour for later use. His main points are 'the four Cs': collect materials; connect material to a point/topic; customise material for a group; consider the placement of material.
