This paper examines the impact on apprentices with poor reading skills of new teaching and learning methods associated with the introduction of some national core curriculum apprenticeship courses. It stresses the importance of technical reading skills and outlines the consequences of non-acquisition of such skills for the individual as well as the national workforce.
