This regional workshop was convened by the Unesco Principal Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (PROAP), through its Asian Centre of Educational Innovation for Development (ACEID), according to the work plan of the Asia and the Pacific Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID). The main objectives were: (i) to develop guidelines for the introduction of newly emerging technologies in technical and vocational education curricula and syllabi (ii) to recommend measures for the improvement of curriculum and training of technical teachers, workshop instructors and other required personnel. Participants from other countries each presented an analysis and synthesis of trends and developments in their own countries. The volume contains text of the opening speech by the Hon J. S.
