Government response to report of the inquiry into the organisation and funding of research in higher education by the Senate Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training

This is a response to all 23 recommendations made in the report of the Senate Standing Committee on Employment, Education and Training (378.0072 AUS). That report gave particular attention to changes in the pattern of research activity across the higher education sector with the advent of the Unified National System; research and university infrastructure; concentration of university research effort in designated centres of excellence; links between higher education and industry; balance between different types of research and their funding; and efficiency and effectiveness of the Australian Research Council's processs and practices.
