Pat Forward was elected the Federal TAFE President at the Australian Education Union (AEU) National TAFE Council Annual General Meeting in January 1998. In this article Pat Forward gives an overview of the major issues discussed at this meeting. Issues discussed include: funding cuts to vocational education and training; the growth of employment; casualisation of the TAFE workforce; maintenance and defence of a viable and quality public TAFE sector.
