Supporting open learning students utilising community resources

This report focuses on supporting the people who support the students, in particular the school/community libraries and public libraries in the Goyder TAFE region (Yorke Peninsula and Mid-north of South Australia). These libraries were surveyed, by questionnaire, for suggestions for the type of support that they required. From the issues raised the following recommendations were made: training/induction in TAFE LEARN services be provided to TAFE staff, further investigation be made into the possibilities of using the course information module of the student management system, investigation of how access to the TAFE catalog can be made more widely available to other libraries that support TAFE students, trialling electronic delivery of information methods, and staff involved in adapting or writing packages be informed of the importance of information literacy skills. The most important outcome of the project is that a system of communication has been established.
