This document sets out the targeted objectives of the Preparatory Educational Program from 1990-93. The three major targets for the period were: (1) that by 1993 80 percent of all Preparatory Education programs in South Australia be offered through departmentally approved curricula, (2) that Preparatory Education students undertaking an award at stream 2100 gain credit within designated stream 3000 subjects, and (3) that all colleges be encouraged to allocate at least 5 percent of their total designated budget to the provision of Preparatory Education programs to service their local communities. Targets for the four sub-programs (literacy/numeracy; womens' education; education program for persons with disabilities; migrant education) are detailed. Consideration is given to the relevant social, economic and legislative issues.
