Human resource management: employment processes: learning guide 1

This learning activities material has been developed for use within the module 'Employment processes'. It has been designed to be used in a self-paced, competency-based, well-resourced situation. This module aims to provide an introduction to issues relating to compensation administration. It focuses on presenting an overview of the strengths, weaknesses, successes, failures, problems and challenges facing the human resources department in this area. Topics covered are: (1) historical background, (2) recent wage fixation principles and concepts, (3) examining wage and salary administration, (4) evaluating my job, (5) incentive compensation systems, (6) fringe benefits and employee services, and (7) planning a personal retirement program.
