Case studies in industrial restructuring: integrated manufacturing

This supplementary issue concentrates on one of three key aspects of industrial restructuring often associated with the introduction of advanced technology, namely ‘integrated manufacturing’. The pamphlet details eight case studies on integrated manufacturing which provide practical examples of how Australian manufacturing companies are employing one or more of the following methods of integration : (1) integrating people with advanced technology through human resource management, (2) functional integration of component parts of enterprise through strategic planning and reorganisation of the production process and (3) using advanced technology to integrate operations across departments through the pooling of information.
