Professional judgment in VET forums

Reframing the Future is the national staff development and change management program funded through the Australian National Training Authority (ANTA) to assist with the implementation of the national training system. As part of its ‘Engaging the VET [vocational education and training] practitioner’ sub-program, Reframing the Future facilitated a series of forums in mid-August 2005 on making effective professional judgments about complex issues in teaching, learning and assessment in the training package environment. The forums were held in Townsville, Newcastle, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide. The following ‘think pieces’ were presented at the forums to stimulate discussion: Professional judgement and assessment / Andrea Bateman (5 p.); What are the factors relating to AQTF compliance impeding new practices in VET teaching, learning and assessment in a Training Package environment / Russell Docking (3 p.); Professional judgment in teaching and learning in VET / John Mitchell (7 p.); VET professionals making good judgements / Anne Jones (5 p.).
