Queensland recreation industry skills formation strategy (2004-2006)

This report outlines strategic directions for developing the range of anticipated workplace skills needed by the industry in order to meet the challenges and opportunities facing the Queensland recreation industry in the short to medium term. It identifies the skill requirements associated with a number of relevant government policy frameworks and initiatives, by drawing on anecdotal industry information, and by recommending delivery and development approaches necessary to ensure the availability of appropriate training and skill development opportunities. The strategy recommends a more collaborative approach to fostering skill development in this industry and encourages a high degree of cooperation between industry, training organisations and government to ensure skill development barriers are overcome, and that future skill development efforts are appropriately targeted to ensure the best possible outcomes for all industry stakeholders. The report provides an overview of the recreation industry in Queensland, and industry training profile, skill needs and skill formation strategies.
