This is a report to ICOTS4 in Marrakech, Morocco, on methods and techniques used in teaching statistics to a variety of students at Auckland Institute of Technology. Courses are project based with students providing their own data. In cases where projects are not done students work on data applicable to their course of study - nurses look at results from cancer research, dress designers look at body sizes, physiotherapy students look at exercise regimes. Students learn to discover as much as possible about the data and to use their common sense.
