Numeracy in the workplace: Henry Sprays it Safe: a CD-Rom resource to assist market gardeners with chemical spraying

The new resource has been developed with WELL (Workplace English Language and Literacy) funding. It covers underpinning knowledge and skills of competencies at Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) I, II and III which relate to chemical spraying, handling and storage. A large part of the resource focuses on the numeracy tasks of measuring and calibrating equipment for efficient spraying. This paper will cover: (1) a brief outline of research about workplace numeracy which underpins the development of the resource; (2) an introduction to the resource - rationale and approach; (3) demonstration of the resource with tips for trainers in using the CD-ROM in training sessions.
