Training agenda, vol. 13, no. 3, Spring 2005

'Training agenda' is a quarterly journal dedicated to issues relating to vocational education and training (VET) in New South Wales. This issue includes the following articles: 'AUSTAFE conference 2005 - report' by Kevin Heys (p. 4-5) reports on the conference 'Excellence in vocational education and training (VET) practice - international perspectives'; 'Teaching learning as a skill' by Jeanne Boote (p. 9, 30) discusses the need for VET teachers to teach learning and suggests ways for teachers to prepare for this; 'Off to a flying start' by San MacColl (p. 13-17) discusses the TradeStart@TAFENSW program which has been introduced to help combat the skills shortage by creating pre-apprenticeship places in a fast-tracked training and work experience program; 'Blooming good' (p. 18-20) discusses the growth in organic and sustainable farming and the related courses available through TAFE NSW - North Coast Institute, Wollongbar campus; 'Crossing the great water' by Julie Collareda (p. 21-23) discusses teachSmart an e-learning tool developed by TAFE NSW - Illawarra Institute which was demonstrated on a visit to the Korean University of Technology; 'The brave new world' (p. 24-26) discusses the changes happening in the manufacturing sector and the impact these will have on TAFE NSW; 'A tribute to Peter Wright - a man for all seasons' (p. 27-29) reflects on the contributions made to TAFE NSW by the late Peter Wright who was the Associate Director, Manufacturing, Engineering, Construction and Transport Curriculum Centre and whose career with TAFE spanned 28 years.
