When vocational education and training (VET) initiatives are built from strong community partnerships, the results point to long-term outcomes and greater retention rates. A unique agreement by key players in the Riverina area of New South Wales has formalised these relationships to provide the best opportunity for Aboriginal students. This memorandum of understanding has resulted in higher enrolment and retention rates, stronger community relationships and collaborative networks and more flexible training opportunities.
