The causal factors affecting educational outcomes for Aboriginal students are complex and challenge existing power structures within educational settings. A more holistic and coordinated approach is being implemented by government agencies, including TAFE NSW, to improve outcomes of Aboriginal people and reduce the impact of inequality and disadvantage. TAFE NSW has developed innovative and localised practices such as distance learning, online delivery and prevocational programs to improve outcomes for Aboriginal people. The successful project Murrin Bridge Wines at Murrin Bridge has enabled the Aboriginal community to achieve high levels of self determination and financial independence.
