Improved retention and completion rates are a vital part of efforts to ensure that the benefits of vocational education and training (VET) are equitably distributed. For Aboriginal students, the provision of a culturally appropriate learning environment is a key factor in improving retention rates. This research project set out to investigate ways in which to make the learning environment more culturally appropriate for Aboriginal students undertaking Community Services courses, in an effort to address poor retention/completion outcomes.
