TAFE NSW is piloting an identification 'smart' card at Southern Sydney Institute of Technology in 1999. The pilot extends a successful trial of the card carried out at Lidcombe College in 1998. The TAFEcard consolidates many applications onto the one card including library and Association membership, an electronic purse, a travel concession sticker, a photo ID and an electronic signature panel. There are numerous possible future applications for the card including flexible learning applications, electronic roll books and enrolment.
