This paper arose out of a project, the Pathways Planning Project, a national Adult and Community Education (ACE) study which looks at pathways which lead from ACE to accredited vocational education and training (VET) and are an important way for Australian women to gain access to accredited training. The paper looks at issues including good practice, the pathway idea, models for planning pathways, and guiding principles for planning pathways. Definitions are discussed, conclusions offered and future issues suggested.
