In this paper the author argues that 'Credential creep' as it is known, may be attractive and enable the naive to feel secure but there is always a credibility gap that goes with it. This gap is blatant and visible whilst ever the transitional memories are sharp and the human factor is never compensated. The author states that the impact to TAFE over time, with so many excellent courses being snaffled by universities and turned into processed degrees, can now be measured. The number of university graduates returning to TAFE to get the real practical knowledge and experience of their chosen profession, increases every year and tends to emphasise one of the most valuable hallmarks of the educational process - survival.
