Training Aboriginal people for community services and health work

This article describes the Aboriginal Community Education, Health Course. The course takes a primary health care approach to help learners gain knowledge and skills to become involved in personal, family and community health care and was developed because of a demand from Aboriginal communities. It was designed using the Mayer Key Competencies and the curriculum development team included Aboriginal writers and other specialists with support and guidance from the TAFE NSW Aboriginal Development Division.
