NSW TAFE Commission pilots controversial new training mode

The NSW TAFE Commission is piloting reforms to entry-level training encapsulated in the proposed Australian Vocational Certificate Training System (AVCTS). During 1994 and 1995, with support from the Commonwealth, the Commission is developing and delivering seven new courses in industry areas previously lacking training at entry level. TAFE NSW is also testing the adequacy of the AVCTS as a means of enriching the competencies of members of the future work force who, until now, have had limited access to formal training and qualifications.
