All the definitions and types of credit transfer used in Australia consider credit transfer as a means to gaining entry or advanced standing in an educational program on the basis of previous education and training achievements. Whereas the Commonwealth government is advocating a national system of credit transfer based on uniform principles, most institutions have proceeded unilaterally and their articulation and credit transfer arrangements have not resulted in consistency within the nation.
