The aim of this questionnaire survey was to determine the type of employment obtained by students who had completed preapprenticeship courses in 1979. Topics tabulated and discussed in the report include: the employment results by course and college; a comparison with the Australian Bureau of Statistics unemployment figures; the credit obtained by apprentices from their employer for having passed the course; the number of apprentices who moved from home to obtain an apprenticeship; the means of obtaining an apprenticeship; the number of apprenticeships and other jobs applied for; the registration with the Commonwealth Employment Service; reasons for enrolling in the course and other comments on the course.
