The World Bank conference ‘Knowledge for Development: a Forum for Middle East and North Africa’ was held in Marseilles, France in September 2002 to discuss policy strategies for tapping into the growth opportunities offered by the knowledge economy. This book, based on papers that were prepared for the conference, analyses the development of knowledge-based economies in the Middle-East and North Africa (MENA).
