This report reviews the role and function of the National Training Council which is an advisory body to the Ministry of Manpower in Indonesia on vocational education and training (VET). The review was very broad and, in addition to looking at the National Training Council, it also examined a council jointly organised by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce, as well as representatives of the private sector. The report comprises five main sections: present arrangements for VET; Arrangements for monitoring and coordination; Review of the role and function of the National Training Council; Strategic issues and recommendations; and Proposals. The latter includes considerable detail on the composition, function and organisational structure of the Council and proposed staffing requirements. A reference list is included and comprehensive appendices of tables pertaining to the review.
