This article appears in Chapter 3 - Boundaryless TET, which presents different approaches to aspects of technician education and training (TET) which might lend themselves to adaptation or adoption in other places or cultures. The author introduces her paper by asserting that successful training programs must do more than just improve their subject-matter, they must have a well-planned training strategy using appropriate and innovative educational technologies and methods. She uses as an example a new one-year trainers' workshop run by the Continuing Education Centre (CEC) of the Asian Institute of Technology, which combines peer learning and distance mentoring. Details are given of both parts of the program, including a one month pre-workshop Internet briefing and discussion. Salvador briefly describes the selection and certification processes and notes the positive results from the first two stages of workshop evaluation. The third stage of the formative evaluation is still to be conducted.
