New directions for applied learning: implications and applications for the Asia Pacific

The author draws attention to five needs in the field of technical and vocational curriculum and instruction in Canada. This is followed by a discussion of the implications for, and applications to, Canada and Canadians. It is intended that this information be the basis of further discussion of the applications and implications of these needs within local environments. The five Canadian needs are: (1) the need for a new vocabulary when talking about technical and vocational training; (2) the need to integrate learning and work; (3) the need for a new curriculum with an emphasis on non-technical knowledge and skill; (4) the need to rethink technical and vocational instructional practices; and (5) the need to serve the public interest.
