This paper looks at the role hi-tech human resources play in economic development by investigating the matching of career with educational background from a masters degree or above. It starts with a systematic review of the relationship between hi-tech manpower and economic development. This is followed by an analysis of the current state of the matching of education and career in the hi-tech industry. Finally, there is a vision for future development provided for the government, the academy and industry in planning and cultivating high level human resources and for bridging the gap between education and application.
