This paper begins with a brief review of how the senior curriculum in New South Wales has changed since 1991. The need to introduce new organisational practices in order to cater for vocational courses is outlined. A series of case studies offer a range of snapshots on how specific schools, teachers and students coped with issues that arose during the introduction of vocationally orientated courses. These identified issues are then discussed.
