This conference was sponsored by the Ministry of Education and co-sponsored by the Ming Chuan University and the International Cooperation Association of Technical Institutes. The two main purposes were to encourage APEC members to improve the quality of vocational education for the purpose of enhancing the quality of human resources and to encourage exchange and cooperation in the area of vocational education among APEC members. Five themes discussed at this forum. They were: (1) meeting the challenges of high-tech society with technological and vocational education curriculum and instruction; (2) new trends in curriculum development; (3) promoting international curriculum cooperation and exchange; (4) strengthening teacher education and improving instruction effectiveness; and (5) converting classroom learning into work competency.
