Great work dilemma: education, employment and wages in the new global economy

The implications of economic globalisation for employment are explored in this paper. According to the author, neither of the two national economic strategies currently available has been able to avoid the problems generated by global competition. Nor is he convinced that more and better education and training will reduce either unemployment or wage decline. A prior condition will have to be major changes in management-labour relations, part of which will need to contain agreements for joint responsibility for the development of more flexible systems of education and training.
