In this article, the authors suggest that the anxiety of vocational-technical educators about the use of computer technology creates a barrier to the successful integration of such technology into educational programs. They suggest that previous research has investigated the relationship between computer anxiety and demographic variables, and between computer anxiety and prior computer-related experience. However, it is proposed that more comprehensive research would examine the relationship between computer anxiety and demographic variables whilst controlling for the effect of computer-related experience. The article reports on a study which investigated how computer-related experience affects the relationship of computer anxiety in vocational-technical teachers to the demographic variables of learning style, age, gender, ethnic/cultural background, teaching/professional area, educational level, and school type. The findings revealed that computer-related experience did affect computer anxiety and, drawing on the results of the study, the authors suggest several strategies that may help reduce computer anxiety.
