Investment in employees' skills is a key factor relating to improvements in profitability and productivity. Recent studies have shown that people management far outweighs emphasis on quality, technology, competitive strategy or research in its influence on the bottom line. This brief article outlines some facts concerning people management training and development within the workplace and cites industry examples of improved and effective training practices. Providing a highly practical approach to effective people management training and using a collaborative workplace method, this article highlights the need to respond to the changing nature of work within organisations.
