Enhancing the quality of students' experience in a franchised course - the case of a UMIST/CIB dual qualification course

The demand for professional education in banking has always been high in Hong Kong. In 1996, the Chartered Institute of Bankers and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in the UK formed a partnership to deliver a dual professional and academic qualification. City University of Hong Kong was the first overseas franchised centre. As students' needs and the economic and socio-cultural environment of Hong Kong are different from that of the UK, it is the aim of this paper to find out and suggest ways to both the franchiser and franchisee to enhance the quality of the students' experience from such a course.
