In pursuit of quality vocational education and training: some international perspectives

Countries differ in their approaches to creating and sustaining a workforce. This paper looks at the question: what will characterise a quality technical and vocational education curriculum likely to achieve this aim? A brief comparison of the situation in Scotland, USA, France and a range of other countries is used to illustrate the situation as it is and to back up the conclusion that there is no single answer to research questions. Each country must endeavour as best it can to put in place arrangements best suited to its needs and its culture.
