This document is a European synthesis report of the national sectoral surveys conducted in the Member States of the European Community as part of the FORCE programme. The retail, food and beverage, and car retail and repair sectors were surveyed with the focus on the planning of continual vocational training at company level. The national surveys examined the national sectoral context, compiled company case studies, and compared these two sections to provide conclusions on special features, trends, challenges and proposals for that sector. The European report adopted the same approach and was drawn up on the basis of the national reports. This final report synthesises and presents the important findings of the European and national reports for each of the three sectors. In addition, a list of the central research teams and the researchers involved on the national level is included.
