Developing interactive courseware on the World Wide Web

This paper discusses issues related to the implementation of various computer science courses on the World Wide Web. Particular attention is given to how end-user interaction has been facilitated in the courseware. The author describes the collection of multimedia tools produced to facilitate the development of these systems. The courses include techniques ranging from the provision of online lecture notes and exercises to more interactive packages designed primarily for teaching and demonstration purposes. The paper includes examples of courses that illustrate a broad range of interactive activities.
