This paper reports briefly on an empirical field study of adults' attitudes towards education in contemporary Poland. In particular the study is concerned with the extent to which education is now seen by adults as an effective way of attaining their aspirations. It also examines an apparent mismatch between stated needs for education and low actual levels of participation.
