This article presents the results of a qualitative survey commissioned by the Faculty of Education of the Queensland University of Technology as part of a study into the feasibility of offering courses in adult and community education. The paper reports on the findings from interviews with stakeholders in the field. The article discusses the need and demand for specialist courses in the area, course structures and conceptual frameworks, recognition of prior learning, professionalisation of the adult and community education workforce and policy implications.
