This quarterly journal provides a forum for the scholarly work of vocationalists. It publishes refereed articles dealing with research and research-related topics in vocational education. The editorial examines the transition to a new editorial team. The articles in this issue focus on the changing nature of the workplace and the implications for vocational education, and include: Critical skill clusters for vocational education the employer's perspective: a replication study / Rodney L. Custer and Daniel M. Claiborne; School-based decision making: implications for vocational education and for the decision-making process / Joyce P. Logan and Charles W. Jones; The teaching of work ethics: current practices of work program coordinators in Georgia / Frances Annette Ford and Ray V. Herren. In the final section Stephan Flister reviews two books: The politics of workplace literacy: a case study / Sheryl Greenwood Gowen; Managing to survive: working lives in small firms / Monder Ram. - Critical skill clusters for vocational education: the employers' perspective: a replication study

In recent years, considerable emphasis has been placed on the importance of employability and basic skills for successful participation in the workforce. This is the second of a two-part study designed to explore the priorities of employers regarding the types of skills they perceive to be critical to successful employment. The findings of this study are consistent with those of the initial vocational educator-based study where the primary emphasis was placed on the employability skill cluster (inclusive of good work habits, attitudes, and interpersonal skills).
