The Netherlands' Adult and Vocational Education Act entered into force on 1 January 1996. It is intended to harmonise the various forms of vocational and adult training in the Netherlands. The economic progress of the country depends in part on its having a good system of vocational and adult education. The labour market requires skilled workers at the right level of competence and with the right sort of training. This act provides for a system that offers students of all different types specific individualised training.
