The Commonwealth promotes economic and social development in all regions of the world through a wide range of technical assistance programmes. These are funded, mainly, by the Commonwealth Fund for Technical Co-operation (CFTC), which is administered by the Commonwealth Secretariat. The CFTC works to strengthen infrastructure and institutions, accelerate economic development and public sector reform, alleviate poverty and build upon local skills through the provision of training, expertise and advisory services. This booklet describes the work of the CFTC and highlights its strengths and comparative advantages. It also describes the assistance provided under the different programmes, with relevant statistical data and graphic illustrations.
