Country report: Pakistan

This paper provides general information on the education system in Pakistan. In view of the inability of the formal education system to cope with the fast growing educational and training needs of the masses, the Education Policy was the first official document to put forward the idea of an open learning system through distance education. To meet a wide range of educational, including vocational education, and social needs Allama Iqbal Open University plays a special role.
