The focus of this research is on collective bargaining and consultation over arrangements for vocational training. It is in four parts. The introduction outlines the objectives and methods of research, examines government initiatives in vocational training and provides a background summary of recent developments in trade union policy and practice on training. The second part analyses the work of four training organisations at sector level. The third section presents experience at enterprise level in seven case studies. Finally, the conclusions offer a synthesis of the findings and a summary of what is considered to be best joint practice in the provision of vocational training.
