This project, which provides strategies for learners and teachers in designing a program for older learners and older workers, was undertaken in three stages: the first stage comprised a literature review and the research component; stage two was a pilot study where older workers participated in literacy learning using ICT skills as the tool of delivery; and in the third stage, data was collated, analysed and categorised to form the key strategies to engage older workers in learning. Key learning strategies for older workers include: methodology to assist with memory problems; use of visuals in instruction and resources; small segments of skills at a time; and quiet and calm environments with no interruptions and disruptions. The project provides a workable framework of strategies and processes when designing a program with a learner focus. This report contains: Project outline; Project background; New literacies; Pilot study for older workers; Case studies; Model of delivery in pilot study; Research findings from the pilot study; Research findings; Market strategies; Conclusion; References; Appendices.
