Australians of non-English speaking background (NESB) are one of the groups identified as under-represented learners in adult and community education (ACE). The aims of this research project were to: develop an understanding of the difficulties experienced by people of NESB in accessing and benefiting from ACE; explore the needs of these people in relation to adult learning opportunities; and to develop an access and equity framework for widening the participation of people of NESB in ACE. Along with a literature review, individual and group interviews were held with adult learners, ACE providers, and ethnic community organisations. A section of this report outlines the comments that were gathered through this contact, while another provides examples of good practice case studies in ACE.
