Australia’s healthy economic conditions and growth, and continuing need for a skilled workforce, indicates a strong need to engage youth in learning, the economy and society. While a significant reduction has been made in the numbers of young people not engaged in work or study, this study argues that a large number still remains without the basic levels of education or engagement to cope with the demands made upon them both within the workforce and the wider community.
