Why research for vocational and technical education

The author argues that there is a need to strengthen the research capability of the [Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation. Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education] SEAMEO VOCTECH centre and concerned vocational education and training (VTE) institutions in member countries, with the aim of eventually establishing a research culture in the VTE systems of those countries. The author considers the present situation of VTE research, its perceived roles, and its potential benefits.
